The University of Colorado Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative is a program dedicated to using collaboration, education, and scientific research to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths of all types in all populations in Colorado and nationally. They are especially well known for their work in the area of firearm suicide prevention. They are also a leader in building collaborations between public health professionals and firearm retailers. The Initiative collaborated with the Colorado Firearm Safety Coalition to create and publish a Colorado-wide map of firearm retailers, shooting ranges and law enforcement agencies willing to consider voluntary temporary firearm storage. In addition, the Initiative hosts educational events for a range of audiences, including the general public and healthcare providers.
