Center for Gun Violence Prevention

In December 2019, Northwell Health organized the Gun Violence Prevention Forum in New York City, which brought together over 100 physicians, researchers, policy experts and health care executives. Our goal? To motivate health care leaders to view firearm injury and mortality prevention as a public health issue and to better understand how our country prioritizes research on this topic. This led to the creation of the Center for Gun Violence Prevention—an initiative that calls for the critical need to implement evidence-based firearm injury and mortality prevention strategies in health care, especially within at-risk communities.
